Hey, I'm Olivia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Portland, United States.
A couple of years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living overseas.
How It Began
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the future plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began to build something that felt steady.
Why I Created Sylva Norpe Trix
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United States continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Portland or anywhere in United States, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Olivia
